Public education is in crisis. Every year our pay and conditions get worse. Politicians from Anthony Albanese and David Crisafulli to Pauline Hanson are waging a war against workers – attacking our unions, our wages, conditions and democratic rights.

Meanwhile, Australia’s richest 200 have more than tripled their wealth in less than a decade. Private schools get more money per pupil than public schools, some even build castles.

In a society ruled by profit, public education gets treated as an unwelcome cost to be minimised. The rich look after themselves, the rest of us are left to make do. Labor, Liberals and One Nation serve this agenda.

But our union leaders have been too reluctant to call us out. Our strikes last year were the first in 16 years. Have our leaders been too ensconced in backroom deals, keeping things stable for successive state governments?

Fightback want to bring back strike-focused unionism to win the schools and TAFE that we, our students and our communities deserve.
